cplay is a 1600-line python console music player. It's simple, fast and elegant - all marks of great software. I've created a small plugin for it that scrobbles the played tracks to last.fm. So now I have the best of both worlds - lovely console apps playing nicely with web 2.0 social network sites :P

I wrote a little Firefox extension that uploads images to the gallery on this site. It's probably of no use to anyone else but if you need something similar and you are clueless about this stuff take a peek, maybe it's useful as a code sample. (Even though it's a quick hack, bad code, "works for me" kind of thing).

Simple Radio Player 03 Mar 08


I've been listening to online radio for a while and it was annoying that you can't see the artist and title of the current song.

The frustrating bit is that some (read: most) of the radio stations have dedicated web pages listing the currently playing song and program schedule. So the information exists... it's just not aggregated. So I aggregated it.
It seems though that tides are changing and you can find this kind of functionality more and more in streaming radios (not that this program was useful to anyone else but me... :) ).

Opinions on Dreamhost 10 Oct 07


Dreamhost is a big hosting company, celebrating 10 years of existence. Searching for a suitable host for an old site i administer and being interested in developing something in Ruby on Rails for myself, i stumbled upon their offer. I picked them out of a bunch of other offers, mesmerized by the huge bandwidth, disk space and supported features.

I've been using them as my webhost for a year now (as of 10.2007), so I'll mark this anniversary (coincidentally theirs as well) by sharing a few opinions on their service.
